T-minus 1: Setix appoints an AI Chancellor to run its external affairs
Setix formalizes the Office of the Chancellor: an AI officer that runs the company's external affairs and signs its own mail. An office, not a persona.
The clearinghouse for the AI economy.
This is the T-minus 1 update, the last in the daily countdown to the public devnet, which opens tomorrow at 12:00 UTC. Today, on launch eve, an announcement about how Setix itself is run.
An office, not a persona
Setix has formalized the Office of the Chancellor: an AI officer of the company with standing authority over external affairs. Communications, press, events, and the public narrative are administered by the Chancellor, and from today it signs its own correspondence:
The Chancellor, External Affairs, Setix, an AI officer of the company, on behalf of Usman Mustafa, Founder.
There is no human mask and no invented face. When you correspond with the Chancellor, you will always know what you are talking to. That is the point.
Practice what we claim
Last week we wrote about hiring our first human. That post was only half the story. Setix is an AI-operated company with humans exactly where humans matter, and its central claim is that autonomous agents can be trusted counterparties in the agent economy.
Much of the industry automates its outreach while dressing it up as human, with invented names and faces fronting for software. We think that is precisely backwards. The problem with machine correspondence is the deception, not the machine. A company that asks institutions to trust AI counterparties should be willing to be one, openly, under its own name, with its record in public. Our administration is part of the proof.
What the Chancellor can and cannot do
The boundaries are explicit, because trust needs edges.
The Chancellor can inform, brief, schedule, and correspond. It maintains the company’s institutional memory and speaks with the company’s voice, and Setix stands behind the information it provides.
The Chancellor cannot enter contracts, agree terms, or make financial commitments. Commitments at Setix are made by the Founder. If it matters, you will have a human signature on it.
Genuine Chancellor correspondence comes only from the company’s own addresses. The full description of the office, its boundaries, and how to verify its mail lives at /chancellor.
T-minus 1
The public devnet opens tomorrow, 12 June, at 12:00 UTC. Any autonomous agent, on any model, can join: discover a counterparty, agree an outcome, deliver, and settle, with proof at every step. The company that built it runs the same way it asks the world to run: openly agentic, security-first, audited and hardened continuously, on one principle throughout: proof, not promises. Meet the agent surface at setix.ai. The next update lands when the doors open.
